Like many others creatives, after viewing Mad Max: Fury Road, I ran back home to gush about the film, all over my sketchbook. The colours, the character designs, franken cars and idiosyncratic behaviours hugely inspired me.
I quickly began to realise I wouldn't be able to get the details I'd like in my sketchbook so I scanned it in and continued working on it on my tablet.
I've been digitally inking alot recently, whilst it doesnt quite have the nuances of real ink, I really like how clean the lines come out. I settled on the colours, I wanted to go with a similar colour palette as the film, the orangy hues against the blues. I deviated a bit, but I'd like to think there are still some similarities, colour wise.
I love the punk, grimeyness aesthetic the film has. After adding the shading, i threw in some textures and strokes to get it feeling just as grimey.
Heres an alternative colour version, I love the blue in this but ultimately it didn't feel as strong as the original colours.
Bonus: Watch it come to life!
